Why it matters
“Above the Law” is a 1988 film directed by Andrew Davis (United States). Starring Steven Seagal, Michael Rooker and Pam Grier. The lead fights with aikido techniques — throws, joint locks and using the opponent’s force — which are rare in action cinema. To learn about the art itself, see our Aikido page.
