Shuai jiao is Chinese wrestling, one of the oldest martial arts in China, with roots in ancient "jiao di" contests. Wrestlers wear short, strong jackets (dalian) and belts, and use grips, trips and throws.
Under the Qing dynasty the imperial court kept its own wrestling corps. A bout is won when the opponent touches the ground with anything but the feet.
