Lethwei is Myanmar's traditional bare-knuckle boxing. Fighters wrap their hands only in tape and gauze, and the art is known as the "art of nine limbs" because, besides fists, elbows, knees and feet, it allows headbutts.
Lethwei was traditionally fought at festivals and pagoda celebrations. In the traditional rules there were no points: a fight was won only by knockout, or ended in a draw. Modern international events, such as the World Lethwei Championship (from 2017), have brought it to a global audience.
