Bear hug (body lock)
Names by art: Wrestling: Bear hug / Body lock · Catch Wrestling: Bear hug · MMA: Body lock
Appears in 3 arts.
Biomechanics: what the body does
Both arms wrap around the opponent’s chest or waist, sometimes trapping one arm, and the hands lock behind the back. Pulling the hips in tight takes away the opponent’s base; from here the attacker can lift, trip or tip the opponent to the ground.
