Floating hip throw
Names by art: Judo: Uki-goshi
Appears in 1 art.
Biomechanics: what the body does
The thrower pulls the opponent up and forward to break their balance, turns and brings the side of the hip into close contact, with an arm around the opponent’s back. The thrower stays a little side-on instead of turning the whole back, then twists the opponent round using the hip and back as a pivot. It needs less lifting than a full hip throw, so it can work against heavier people.
